Canon has gone for enhanced image quality by using a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor in the PowerShot G1 X Mark III, a first for its line of point-and-shoot cameras. This configuration provides it with capabilities near that of DSLR or mirrorless cameras, but in a compact, all-in-one body that features a 24-72mm equivalent f/2.8-5.6 zoom lens with an Optical Image Stabilizer. This model also sports advanced functionality and speed with a DIGIC 7 processor, able to produce clean imagery at sensitivities up to ISO 25600, shoot continuously at up to 9 fps, and realize Full HD video recording at 60 fps. On top of this, the sensor’s design incorporates Dual Pixel CMOS AF, enabling fast, accurate focusing for stills and video.

With a redesigned body, the highlight feature is the integrated electronic viewfinder located on the top of the camera. This provides a natural and clear method for composing your images. Also, the rear of the camera is outfitted with a 3.0" vari-angle touchscreen for working at odd angles or for using a Touch and Drag AF function when using the EVF. Multiple physical dials and controls are present, as well, making it quick and easy to adjust settings such as exposure compensation or mode, and a built-in pop-up flash will help illuminate dark scenes. Additionally, the body is dust- and moisture resistant and has integrated Wi-Fi with NFC and Bluetooth connectivity for working directly with smart devices.

Alongside the camera is a variety of new accessories to help you get the most out of the system. This includes the LH-DC110 Lens Hood, to help minimize lens flare and ghosting in your images, the PSC-6300 Deluxe Soft Case, for keeping the camera safe in your bag, and the WP-DC56 Waterproof Case, for underwater imaging.
