Sigma continues to push its optics forward, and today it is with the impressive ultra-wide 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF, Nikon F, and Sigma SA mounts. Optimized for high-resolution full-frame sensors, this optic is designed to capture ultimate detail with minimal distortion. It manages this through the incorporation of three FLD and three SLD glass elements, three aspherical elements, and one large-diameter aspherical element, which all work together to combat various aberrations. Making it a more versatile option for professionals is its constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, allowing photographers to work in a range of scenarios with varied lighting conditions.
This lens uses an upgraded Hyper Sonic Motor for fast autofocus and, as is to be expected from an Art series lens, it features dust- and splash-resistant construction with special seals at the mount, zoom, and focus rings, and cover connection. These features make it exceptionally suitable to applications like weddings, travel, nature, and landscape photography. Thinking ahead, Sigma has also launched a new Front Conversion Service for this lens, which allows users to have the integrated petal-shaped hood swapped out for a rounded hood, specifically so the lens can be better used in virtual-reality applications where the petal may interfere with other lenses in a camera array.
Mount-specific functions include support for Canon's Lens Aberration Correction and Nikon's electromagnetic, or E-type, aperture diaphragm. Also, the lens is compatible with Sigma's MC-11 Mount Converter for the Sony E mount.
