WPPI 2018: Panasonic Takes on Telephoto with 50-200mm f/2.8-4 Lens

Panasonic wants you to get all the reach you need in a single lens, with the release of the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 50-200mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens. Obviously designed to be paired with the manufacturer's mirrorless Micro Four Thirds cameras, this telephoto zoom delivers an incredible equivalent focal length range of 100-400mm. Combine this with the lens's f/2.8-4 maximum aperture range, and photographers will enjoy a versatile and highly capable option for sports, wildlife, and more.

The lens manages to retain a relatively compact size and will accept 67mm filters. Also, it has a POWER O.I.S. system compatible with Dual I.S. and Dual I.S. 2.0. for combating the effects of camera shake. Speed has also been taken into consideration—it has an autofocus motor that can be driven at 240 fps for tracking fast subjects. Photographers can even use 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters for dramatically expanded reach equivalent, to 140-560mm and 200-800mm, respectively. Additionally, the 50-200mm is rugged with a dust- and splash-proof design and freezeproofing to 14°F.
