Lightweight. Compact. Powerful. Advanced. Beautifully shaped. And… a Red Dot. Leica has officially announced a new flash system—the Leica SF 60 flash unit and the Leica SF C1 wireless remote—for photographers looking to add light to a scene, or alter the existing light for their needs.
You may use the SF 60 and SF C1 with the latest firmware-equipped Leica SL, M10, S (007), Q, CL, M (Typ 240), M9, M8, and S (006) for full TTL control. For owners of older Leica flashes, the SF C1 is only compatible with the SF 60. But, not only can you control multiple SF 60 units with the SF C1, the SF 60 flash can optically fire other Leica flashes, like the SF 40, SF 64, and SF 58.
The SF 60 weighs 300 grams without its required four AA batteries. The flash adds 98mm of height to your Leica system and has a guide number of 60 at ISO 100. The flash head can be swiveled 180 degrees in both directions and up 90 degrees vertically. Focal lengths from 24mm to 200mm are automatically adjusted by the camera—the integrated reflector allows you to get coverage for 16mm lenses. The flash also features slow, high-speed, and 1st- and 2nd-curtain sync. For video shooters, the SF 60 has a continuous LED light function that is adjustable in 9 increments.
Like the SF 60, the SF C1 remote can be mounted on the camera or used off-camera, and the remote communicates with everything using a 2.4GHz signal. With the SF C1, you have full remote TTL control, remote flash head zoom control, EV compensation, and the ability to control up to 8 groups at 328' (100 meters) from the unit. It is powered by 3 AA batteries. Firmware updates for the SF C1 can be uploaded via the microSD card slot in the unit.
