It looks like Panasonic has been bit by the full-frame bug. Aiming for an early 2019 launch, Panasonic has announced the new LUMIX S1R and LUMIX S1 digital full-frame mirrorless cameras equipped with a Leica L lens mount. The new full-frame sensors will record 47MP of data on the LUMIX S1R and 24MP on the LUMIX S1. Inside, the cameras will have, what Panasonic claims, the world’s first support for 4K 60p/50p video recording and Dual I.S. (image stabilization) for getting hand-held shots in dark environments. The cameras will feature dual card slots for XQD and SD cards as well as a screen that tilts in three axes.
The camera features the Leica L mount, so you can attach your battery of L-mount lenses as soon as the camera hits the shelves, or you can grab one or more of the 10 lenses that Panasonic will be releasing before the year 2020 including a 50mm f/1.4, 24-105mm zoom, and 70-200mm zoom.
Panasonic is bringing its video expertise to the full-frame world. Are you ready to jump on board?
