While the rest of the lighting world rushed to produce a tube-shaped LED light, Genaray quietly worked on a sophisticated fixture with intelligently designed features and wide color and mounting options that’s just fun to use—the SpectroLED Baton Stick Light.

Genaray seems to have thought of everything on this one. The Baton comes in three lengths: 20, 34, and 53". Shaped like magic wands, these lights are capable of some impressive lighting wizardry. All the Batons have a 110-degree beam spread and color temperature that’s variable from 2800 to 6500K, making them adaptable to any kind of lighting situation, while high CRI and TLCI ratings attest to their color accuracy, saving on post-production color-correction toil. There are also preset buttons that allow you to jump to 2800, 3200, 4300, 5600, or 6500K, and the lights are dimmable from 100 to 10%. They’re also DMX compatible, so you can adjust color and brightness on one or several Batons remotely from a console, or you can do it right on the fixture via pushbuttons and an LCD screen.

Mounting is where most manufacturers drop the ball, but not Genaray. An Arca-Type Ball Head Mount with a 5/8" receiver is included, and since the entire length of the Baton is dovetailed, the whole light is basically one giant quick-release plate that allows stand mounting anywhere along its length, not just in the center. There are also very strong magnetic mounts that will attach the Baton to any metal surface. All of the Batons are ready for worldwide use, thanks to their 100 to 240 VAC power supply, but the 20 and 34" versions have a little optional surprise—a battery-powered handle. Besides portability and freedom from the AC outlet, the battery-powered Baton is perfect for handholding and inspiring creative departures, such as whipping it around like a lightsaber for photos with eye-catching light trails. The handle will give the 20" Baton 120 minutes of run time and the 34" Baton 60 minutes, at full power. It employs an LED battery indicator to remind you when it’s time to recharge. So, if you’re looking for a light with exceptional capabilities that’s just fun to use, try a SpectroLED Baton.
