Getting more from your camera is always great, and Panasonic is providing potential Lumix DC-S1 owners with a path to capture exceptional video with high bit depths and additional functionality. Already packing some outstanding video specs for a full-frame mirrorless camera, Panasonic has just revealed a paid software upgrade coming in July 2019 that will unlock some desired features for professional video applications. This optional update adds the ability to record 10-bit 4:2:2 UHD 4K at 24 or 30 fps internally to a memory card, output 10-bit 4:2:2 UHD 4K at up to 60 fps over HDMI, and access the full V-Log gamma.
Stay tuned to B&H for updates on this paid software upgrade as its release date comes closer, as well as more information on Panasonic’s S Series. One thing to check out today is this video of our recent live stream on the cameras, where we showed them off in a studio demo, and had guest speakers share their thoughts.
