Ricoh has announced the GR II Digital Camera, the long-awaited update to the company’s large-sensor GR Digital Camera. This refresh is a first for the GR series, as its principal improvement is built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC, for easy wireless connection to mobile devices. The built-in wireless connection enables quick transfer of images to your smartphone or tablet and remote camera control via your smart device.
The GR II features an APS-C-sized, 16.2MP anti-aliasing filter-less CMOS sensor in a pocket-sized form factor with a comfortable grip and magnesium-alloy case. A fixed-perspective lens with 28mm equivalency and f/2.8 maximum aperture is a favorable focal length for stills and Full HD 1080p video. Its high-speed autofocus system keeps up with the 4 fps burst shooting speed, as well as continuous movement in video mode. The GR Engine V image processor maintains fast performance with JPEG and RAW files and h.264 video compression at 30 fps. A 3.0" LCD monitor provides composition and playback viewing, a hot-shoe mount is supported, and the onboard flash features command mode to trigger select off-camera flash units.
