Form and function combine to make the newest releases from Gitzo an impressive lot. A Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head and Series 1 and 3 Center Ball Heads are all designed to fit the new Traveler series of legs. The heads use a tungsten disulfide coating on the ball instead of the previously used PFTE material. This contributes to smoother adjustments with minimal “stick-slip.” All three heads have a separate lock for the panning motion, and the two larger heads also have friction control for precise adjustments. The heads are all Arca-type quick-release compatible, and a plate is included with each. The Center Ball Heads are also available as part of a kit with Mountaineer legs, available with either the GT1542, GT2542, or GT3532 tripod legs, which are a sturdier, albeit heavier, alternative to the Traveler.
Along with the heads are four new Traveler Tripods ranging from 14.0 to 17.5" when folded, and 48.2 to 60.8" fully extended. This update adds a Series 0 to the Traveler family for the first time, making it the lightest Traveler at just 2 lb. A newly designed carbon fiber called Carbon eXact makes the legs stronger than the previously used 6x carbon. The G-Lock leg locks have also been specifically redesigned for the Traveler tripods, making them more compact and ergonomic. They have a short center column for ground-level shooting, and a shoulder strap is provided for added comfort when traveling.
