Panasonic has just made its rangefinder style more affordable, with the Lumix DMC-GX85 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera. This compact camera packs a 16MP Live MOS sensor that omits the optical low-pass filter for high-resolution image capture and sharp UHD 4K video recording. This system provides 4K Photo capabilities, so users can quickly and easily pull stills from the 8MP video feed. Also, Dual I.S. technology is packed into the compact body, which uses a magnetic 5-axis in-body stabilizer with compatible lenses for maximum stability.

A major highlight of this camera is its retro body design. The rangefinder aesthetic makes the camera system very small compared to other systems and it comes equipped with a 2.76m-dot 0.7x electronic viewfinder in the upper right corner for natural eye-level composition. The GX85 also features a rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot tilting touchscreen LCD for intuitive control over focus points and other settings. Besides this, there are a variety of buttons and dials for tactile control during shooting.

In terms of features, the GX85 is fully loaded. It can capture high-resolution 16MP raw images at up to 10 fps and at sensitivities up to ISO 25600. Benefitting imaging is a Depth-From-Defocus autofocus system that can quickly calculate subject distance to find focus more accurately and quickly. Dual Image Stabilization will then make sure images are sharp by compensating for camera shake.

Video has always been a major feature of Panasonic’s mirrorless cameras, and the GX85 is no exception, with UHD 4K video at up to 30 fps. 4K video is recorded at a rate of 100 Mbps in the MP4 format for excellent detail. Full HD at up to 60 fps is also available and a built-in stereo mic will capture clean sound. 4K video proves for multiple 4K Photo modes where there are multiple options to choose from for your situation.

This camera will be available in black and silver in a kit with the Lumix G Vario 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. Lens.
