Eager to expand the telephoto options available to its X-series mirrorless photographers, Fujifilm has just released a XF 2x TC WR Teleconverter for select lenses, as well as a stylish lens hood for the XF 23mm f/1.4 R.
Compatible with the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR and XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lenses, this teleconverter will double the effective reach of your telephoto zoom optics, providing effective focal lengths of 100-280mm and 200-800mm, respectively. When stated in 35mm terms, the teleconverter is able to produce a field of view equivalent to 150-420mm and 300-1200mm—quite impressive for mirrorless lenses. The teleconverter’s nine-element-in-five-group optical construction maintains a high degree of optical quality; however, users will have to take into account a loss of two f-stops during shooting.
Advanced electronics within the teleconverter are able to maintain the lens’s native AF speeds, as well as allow communication of proper Exif data to the camera body. The teleconverter will even reflect the changes in aperture and focal length for accurate metering and image review. Additionally, the teleconverter also is weather- and dust resistant and can operate in temperatures as low as 14°F.
Alongside the 2x Teleconverter, users of the XF 23mm f/1.4 R lens can pick up the LH-XF23 Lens Hood, which provides an alternative design than the hood originally included with the optic.
