A new variant of one of Leica’s most esteemed M-mount lenses, and often cited as one of the finest standard focal-length lenses available, the Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens is now available in a new silver anodized finish.
Maintaining the same technical highlights as the black version, which was released in 2012, this bright 50mm lens utilizes a single aspherical element to reduce a variety of spherical aberrations and produce a high degree of contrast and clarity from edge to edge. A floating element system is also employed for consistent imaging performance throughout the focus range, from 2.3' to infinity. Earning the title of APO, or apochromatic, the lens is also adept at controlling chromatic aberrations for clean, neutral representation and high color accuracy throughout the aperture range. Additionally, even though the lens measures a petite 2.1 x 1.9", it still incorporates a bright f/2 maximum aperture to benefit working in low-light conditions, as well as providing increased control over depth of field, which is further aided by smooth manual-focus operation and an integrated focus tab.
