Canon’s attractive new PowerShot G7 X is an enthusiast-aimed, point-and-shoot camera that has what it takes to appeal to advanced users. Compact and stylish in an understated way, it sports a 20.2MP 1-inch High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor, a 4.2x (24-100mm equivalent) f/1.8-2.8 image stabilized optical zoom lens, and a top-of-the line DIGIC 6 image processor that delivers, among other things, Full HD 1080p video at 60 fps, sensitivity to ISO 12800, and a maximum continuous burst rate of an impressive 6.5 fps.
Other high-end features include a 3.0-inch 1,040k-dot tilting touchscreen LCD, high speed AF with 31 focus points, an analog style control ring and dials, a built-in ND filter, and Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC. It even offers Star Mode, which is designed to capture brilliant images of the night sky. The PowerShot G7 X measures a petite 4.1 x 2.4 x 1.6 inches with the lens collapsed, and weighs only 10.7 ounces.
