For users looking to upgrade their kit or jump headfirst into the mirrorless world, Olympus has just announced a new kit, bundling the OM-D E-M1 Micro Four Thirds Mirrorless Digital Camera with the Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO Lens. This set provides users with a very capable imaging setup with an equivalent focal length range of 24-80mm.
The camera itself performs admirably, thanks to a 16.3MP Live MOS Sensor and the TruePic VII image processor, which work together to deliver clean, sharp images at sensitives up to ISO 25600 and at continuous shooting rates up to 10 fps. The camera even boasts a FAST Dual phase- and contrast-detect AF system, as well as impressive 5-axis image stabilization. Also, the Wi-Fi connected camera features a high-resolution 2.36m-dot EVF and a 3" 1.04m-dot tilting LCD touchscreen for composing images and changing settings. The included 12-40mm lens is a part of Olympus’s PRO series, which is designed to deliver outstanding image quality and incorporates weather sealing that matches that of the E-M1with which it is paired. Additionally, a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture ensures consistent performance throughout the versatile zoom range.
