Building upon its relatively new mirrorless line, Leica has just released the TL Mirrorless Camera, an upgrade to the manufacturer’s first mirrorless camera that brings it more in line with the L-series rebrand. Based on the original T, the TL features the same solid aluminum-alloy unibody construction that made it so unique, as well as a rear 3.7" 1.3m-dot LCD touchscreen that offers intuitive control and a streamlined design. A brand new titanium-colored model gets a little extra polish and curved, chamfered edges. The APS-C TL also sports the L bayonet lens mount found in the original T and the full-frame SL, giving it complete compatibility with existing TL and SL series lenses, as well as a variety of other lenses, such as Leica’s M and R series, via adapters.
Many important updates can be found in the TL, including a much faster contrast-based autofocus system, especially when set to continuous focusing. It also features built-in Wi-Fi, which can connect to the iOS or Android app for quickly sharing images or using your smartphone as a remote control. Another new ability is support for OIS in compatible SL lenses. In terms of pure imaging, the specs have remained very similar to its predecessor, with a 16.3MP APS-C CMOS sensor and Full HD video at 30 fps for up to 29 minutes. It now offers 32GB of built-in storage so that you will always have plenty of extra storage space.
Of course, as with all Leica releases, we have some new stylish accessories to go along with the camera. This includes a Leather Protector Case in black, cemento, and red, and a Neck Strap in black, cemento, and red.
