A classic camera seems to balance silver and black perfectly to create a timeless look. Leica is known for beautifully crafted cameras and is announcing a variation of the CL Mirrorless Camera, with a silver anodized finish. Essentially the same as the original, this camera has a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor, electronic finder, built-in Wi-Fi, and so much more. The key change comes in the design as the top plate, base plate, and top controls now come in a silver finish, while the main camera body features black leather trim. It will be available as a body only, in a kit with the 18mm lens, or in a kit with the 18-56mm lens. Additionally, a new silver CL Thumb Support is being created.
Some more minor announcements were made today by Leica, including firmware version 3.3 for the full-frame SL system. The changes brought with this update include a few adjustments to the Power Saving Mode settings; an additionally Shutter Pressed option for Auto Review. Off will not allow Auto Review with the shutter release pressed. It also makes the camera compatible with the Leica FOTO app, into which we will go into more detail now.
Leica FOTOS is a completely new app for Leica shooters, being made available on October, 24, 2018. This single app makes it easy to connect your camera to a smartphone and provides the ability to transfer JPEG and raw images directly to your mobile device. It also offers remote control of the camera and has its own suite of editing and sharing tools. It will work with the S (Typ 007), SL, M10/M10-P, Q, TL, TL2, T (Typ 701), CL, V-LUX, D-LUX, C-LUX, and C.
