Rokinon has just announced its first lenses for the full-frame Canon RF mirrorless system: a 14mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.4. These are solid manual-focus primes that are weather sealed and feature a new matte, metal chassis with manual aperture ring that will match the look of the sleek R Series cameras.

Approaching from both ends of the spectrum here, the 14mm f/2.8 is an ultra-wide-angle lens that is well suited to astrophotography, landscapes, interiors, and architecture. It uses a 14 element in 10 group optical design with High Refractive Index, Hybrid Aspherical, Aspherical, and Extra-Low Dispersion elements, as well as an Ultra Multi-Coating to minimize distortion, aberrations, and flare. It also has a built-in petal-shaped hood and a rear gelatin filter holder.

For those desiring a longer lens, the 85mm f/1.4 is the other lens being announced today. Long considered a perfect portrait length, this 85mm also features a fast f/1.4 aperture for shallow depth-of-field effects and low-light shooting. It uses 9 elements in 7 groups, along with a Hybrid Aspherical element and Ultra Multi-Coating to ensure clean, aberration- and flare-free imagery. This mode also has a removable lens hood, rounded aperture diaphragm for circular bokeh, and a 72mm filter thread.
