A marriage of German-made technology with aesthetics from renowned Italian fashion label Moncler resulted in the eye-catching Leica X (Typ 133) “Edition Moncler” Digital Camera. With a premium quality and finish that shows off the heart of both brands, this camera most obviously represents Moncler’s background with red, white, and blue leather trim that evokes thoughts of the French flag, while Leica’s personality shines through with the remarkably compact body that holds a large 16.2MP, APS-C CMOS sensor paired perfectly with a fixed Summilux 23mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens for a classic 35mm equivalent field of view.
Furthering Moncler’s influence on the dazzling design, it comes with a matching case, a leather strap, and a white padded pouch that emulate the look of a Moncler down jacket. Leica, of course, takes over when it comes to pure imaging capabilities and integrated a physical control ring on the lens barrel for tactile manual focus when desired. The lens’s f/1.7 maximum aperture also benefits photographers with the ability to create images with shallow depth of field and work more efficiently in low light.
High-quality imaging is a priority, with the ability to capture up to 5 RAW DNG files per second, as well as record full HD 1080p video at 30 fps. Also, it can access up to 12500 ISO for sharp, clean photos even in low light. And, in addition to manual focus, the camera has an 11-point AF system for fast, accurate subject acquisition.
Composing and reviewing images is handled via the rear 3.0", 920k-dot, TFT LCD screen, and it has a wide viewing angle and 100% coverage, so users will see exactly what they will expect. An optional optical or electronic viewfinder is available for more comfortable or natural shooting, and the camera saves files to SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. Additionally, it features lightweight magnesium and aluminum construction that is reminiscent of Leica’s classic M rangefinders.
