It appears that Fujifilm decided to jump right into some of the company’s New Year’s resolutions with the announcement of five digital cameras. Among the new releases is the X-A2 Mirrorless Digital Camera, an entry-level for the X-series line, with a 175° tilting LCD screen, and a premium point-and-shoot in the form of the XQ2 Digital Camera. Fujifilm’s tough camera series receives an update with the FinePix XP80 Digital Camera, while the long zoom segment welcomes the FinePix S9800 Digital Camera and the Wi-Fi capable FinePix S9900W Digital Camera. In addition to these cameras, two new zoom lenses are being released: the XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II Lens, which will be included with the X-A2, and the XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS II Lens, which offers an expanded zoom range for more versatility.

Updating the entry-level X-mount mirrorless camera, the lightweight X-A2 has been made “selfie-ready,” with a 175° tilting 3.0" 920k-dot LCD, as well as face and eye detection. The 16.3-megapixel camera also has Wi-Fi connectivity so you can easily transfer your images and share them with your friends or print directly from an INSTAX Share Printer. It utilizes the EXR Processor II along with an APS-C CMOS image sensor to produce highly detailed images at up to ISO 25600. This combination enables video recording, in addition to stills, at up to full HD at 1920 x 1080 at 30p.
The X-A2 also offers the recently developed Eye AF, Auto Macro AF, and Multi-Target AF to lock focus quickly and accurately in a variety of different shooting situations. Other improvements include a faster shooting interval time of 0.4 seconds and the addition of the Classic Chrome film-emulation mode.
This camera comes with the XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II Lens and will be available in Brown, Silver, and White.

Bringing the X-series into the pocket-sized world, the fixed-lens XQ2 features a 12-megapixel X-Trans CMOS II 2/3" image sensor and the EXR Processor II to provide quality imagery from ISO 100 up to ISO 12800. This technology uses a newly developed color filter array with a randomized pixel arrangement that eliminates the need for an Optical Low Pass Filter for achieving a greater resolution.
The XQ2 has a fixed FUJINON 25-100mm equivalent f/1.8 optical zoom lens. The 4x lens uses four aspherical elements and three extra low dispersion lenses as well as the HT-EBC coating to reduce flare, ghosting, and aberrations. Additionally, the XQ2 uses a Lens Modulation Optimizer for creating sharp images and has optical image stabilization rated for up to three stops of compensation.
In addition to this impressive feature set, the XQ2 has a 4x Intelligent Digital Zoom function for approximately 16x of range as well as full HD video recording and the new Classic Chrome film simulation mode, among others. It even has Wi-Fi connectivity for instant sharing or directly printing from an INSTAX Share Printer. This camera will be available in Black, White & Black, and Silver.

Alongside these new X-series cameras are two updated X-mount lenses. The XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II Lens is a standard zoom with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24-76mm, which covers wide-angle to short telephoto lengths in a single compact package. The XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS II Lens picks up where the 16-50mm left off, dramatically extending a photographer’s reach with a 76-350mm equivalent focal length. This pair of lenses provides an exceptionally broad range of coverage for shooting in a wide range of different conditions.
The 16-50mm has an optical construction of 12 elements in 10 groups, including three aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion element. This provides users with sharp imagery throughout the zoom range with minimal aberrations. The 50-230mm lens has a similar design with 13 elements in 10 groups including one aspherical element and one extra-low dispersion element while it has a stepping AF motor for fast, accurate autofocus. Also, Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) is incorporated into both models, which will minimize the appearance of camera shake at longer focal lengths and when working in low-light conditions.

Fuji’s long-zoom lineup sees the introduction of the FinePix S9900W Digital Camera and FinePix S9800 Digital Camera. Both feature an impressive 50x optical zoom lens equivalent to 24-1200mm with a bright f/2.9-6.5 aperture, as well as a 16.2-megapixel CMOS sensor that works up to ISO 12,800. Five-axis image stabilization with two-axis optical and three-axis electronic further improves imagery by reducing the effects of camera shake. The main differentiating feature of these cameras is the inclusion of Wi-Fi connectivity on the S9900W.
These cameras are quite fast, with a start-up time of one second, 0.15 second AF, and a continuous shooting rate of 10 fps. Also, to assist with framing, the cameras have both a 920k-dot EVF and a 3.0" 460k-dot LCD screen. Other features available in these models are full HD video recording, HDR image capture, 360° Motion Panorama, and 11 Advanced Filter effects.
